Cablevision Cybersecurity Alert
At Cablevision, security is a top priority, and in light of our responsibility to safeguard your information, we’re providing you with an important update on a recent incident.
We recently became aware that some customer and employee information was accessed in a recent cybersecurity incident targeted at Cablevision.
The unauthorized party accessed information that includes the name, address, phone number, date of birth and account information of current and previous Cablevision customers.
In limited cases, the unauthorized party also accessed customer financial and banking information of those customers who pay by pre-authorized withdrawal. We are notifying those impacted customers directly.
Immediately upon becoming aware of the incident, Cablevision took the necessary steps to secure its affected systems. We are pursuing our investigation and working with third-party cybersecurity experts on the matter, as well as implementing solutions to further enhance the security of our systems.

Can you tell us more about the incident?
We became aware that some customer and employee information was accessed in a recent cybersecurity incident targeted at Cablevision.
Was my data impacted?
Through our investigation, we have determined that the unauthorized party access information that includes the name, address, phone number, date of birth and account information of current and former Cablevision customers.
In limited cases, the unauthorized party also accessed customer financial and banking information of those customers who pay by pre-authorized withdrawal. We are notifying those impacted customers directly.
Was the Office of the Privacy Commissioner or other authorities notified?
We are pursuing our investigation and have engaged the RCMP’s cyber crime unit. We have also notified the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
I haven’t been contacted directly by Cablevision. Does this mean my data wasn’t impacted?
The information accessed includes the name, address, phone number, date of birth and account information of any current or former Cablevision customer.
Are my devices at risk?
Devices such as modems or set-top boxes were not impacted.
What action should I take?
We encourage all customers to follow best practices in protecting their data including:
- Remain wary of any unsolicited communications that ask for your personal information or direct you to a website to input your personal information. Cablevision will never contact you to ask for personal information such as credit card numbers, bank account information, passwords or PINs;
- Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from suspicious emails or text messages;
- Regularly review your accounts for suspicious activity.
What are you doing to respond and to prevent such incidents in the future?
Immediately upon becoming aware of the incident, Cablevision took the necessary steps to secure its affected systems. We are working with third-party cybersecurity experts and are implementing solutions to further enhance the security of our systems.
We are pursuing our investigation and have engaged the RCMP’s cyber crime unit, and are conducting continuous monitoring and analysis to identify any issues that arise.
